I’m not a beauty guru, nor have I been good at taking care of my skin until now. I used to wash my face once daily and thought not touching my face keep all the facial problems at bay. However, deep down in our hearts we know that we have to take skincare seriously so that we don’t regret it when we’re all wrinkled out.

The image of my wrinkled face pushes me to research a little bit about this topic, and now I’m proud to say that I might have a solution. I always hated the style of advertisement that skincare always had, it’s way too complicated and not realistically applicable. So I surf in the net, looking for a minimalistic solution, stripping it down to the basics.

Fundamentally, you need 3 things, cleanser, SPF, and moisturizer. If you can, find a multi-purpose product to further simplify your routine. For instance, there are SPF+moistiurizer combo products, but the downside that it’s not that common and could be hard to find one that is suitable for your skin.

Firstly, cleanser / facial wash, cleaning is kind of self-explanatory, acne and blackhead are sure to come if your face is dirty. Any type of cleanser works for me, but I do recommend one that doesn’t contain fragrance and has low pH such as Cetaphil. It is a very popular brand and quite pricey, but It does come in this big bottle and lasts pretty long.

Secondly and also the most important, SPF. Sunlight, also known as UV light, not only cause black spots, but also make your pore look bigger and saggier because it promotes aging and oxidizes with cell and stuff. I’m not a pro and my facts could be wrong, but if you could take anything from this post is that you need to use SPF right away.

Lastly, moisturizing can restore damage on your face in the long term. Acne scars, wrinkles, even infected pimples can all benefit from the right moisturizer. There are many brands out there, just pick one that suits your personality, do some soul searching.

If you are ever confused about where to start your skincare journey, I highly recommend you follow this routine. Start simple and if after you think you need more products, you can always add more.
